Comparative test: Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, and Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I began writing the test by looking at the prices. Then I customized the three models to suit my tastes. It was a pleasant surprise to find out the results. How to drive – BMW driving is a joy, Audi is surreal

To be able to anticipate the next, I have to say that all that took place on the speed circuit as well as on public roads was exceptional for all three models. Let’s begin with Audi. The S Tronic gearbox on the A6 has a slight delay in starting, but then there is no noticeable power loss and the quattro system makes it seem like the car is moving without any problems. The milestone test was passed without hesitation by the A6. Are things perfect? It is not. It is quiet, has the best response at low speed, and it also delivers a quicker acceleration.

We can easily say after only a few hundred meters that I enjoy the firm direction and precise control. It has come a long way from its predecessors. The V6 engine is very pleasant and lively at all speeds, even though it sometimes makes too much noise. Although the nine-speed gearbox was not the fastest, it is essential for comfort as it can move from one gear almost instantly. The test model did not have an air suspension. This means that passing over short bumps can transmit vibrations to the passenger compartment. The E 350 d is also not light. The E 350 d is only 18 kg lighter than the Audi A6 with quattro and 128 kilograms heavier than the BMW 535d.

I have this information and immediately get behind the wheel the BMW 5 Series. The engine sounds like it is powered by gasoline. It responds to small impulses and accelerates quickly. Because the engine is fully directed, it has a superior agility in corners to those tested. It was almost five meters long, and I forgot I was driving a limousine. This segment is dominated by the 5 Series brakes, acceleration, and turns. The gearbox also downshifts more gears with no hesitation. It is a remarkable package. Although the differences between these three models may seem small, you can feel them instantly when you drive them on the same roads and in the same driving conditions. The new 5 Series was required in the Powertrain, Driving, and Comfort chapters during our comparative testing. Surprisingly, Environmental Protection is also the most popular. With a consumption of 6.6 l/100 km for a 265 horsepower engine, it is a remarkable performance. It is even more remarkable that the consumption in sports on circuit has never exceeded 11.0 L/100 km. It uses carefully selected materials and leaves no room for criticism, no matter what. These three extraordinary limousines are subjective, but you cannot help but fall in love with them.
